Layout Share: Playing

Here is one of the layouts I created with the supplies Jill from Memorable Seasons sent us for June's Design Team kit. The featured collection this month was Fancy Pants: Like Father Like Son Collection. I really loved all the colors and patterns in the papers and the coordinating stickers were so much fun to use too. I have lots of other ideas sketched out for my left-overs too. We were also sent some of the 7 Gypsies label stickers, Prima flowers, Tim Holtz metal key and Maya Road kraft Tickets.

I love the diagonal cluster of stars on the background paper, so I just moved my photos to the right side to preserve as much of the star pattern as I could. I added the scalloped sticker border from the elements sticker set in between the photos, then I also added the blue square alphabet stickers for the first letter of each of my kid's names. I love how the letters have a descriptive word underneath the main letter in small print and each of those words match the different personalities of my kids...too cool! On top of the square stickers, I used some tiny alphabet stickers to spell out the rest of their names. You can also see the green sticker photo corners from the same elements sticker sheet. My journaling was hand written underneath the bottom photo.
For the center title, I used the sticker that had the playing quote on it. There was some space at the top, so I punched holes in the sticker and threaded my orange ribbon through the holes to tie the metal key to the sticker. The entire sticker then was attached to my layout with foam tape.
This layout came together SO quickly...from grabbing the photos to picking out the paper and stickers to finishing it off with the journaling...I love how it turned out and I completed it in under 30 minutes! :)

Let's Scrap Sketch... My Girl

Here is this month's sketch for Memorable Seasons by Cheri O'Neill over at Let's Scrap:

For my layout, I used one large photo in the center and two smaller photos on each side, as well as one more small one next to my title. I placed a flower where the title is on this sketch and added my title where the journaling was drawn.  Instead of using tags at the top, I added two more flowers. I hand wrote my journaling along the bottom of the layout.  I really like how I was able to use this sketch to work with my photos and the layout came together really quickly.
To create the title, I used some pink alphabet stickers and sanded them down a bit, then added some red and brown ink to them with a foam blender tool. Then I stamped some ledger prints on the top with brown ink. I love how they turned out.
I also stamped the flowers to customize them for my layout. The flower base was a white diecut flower shape, and I added some blue chalk ink to the edges, the same ledger images stamped in brown ink, then I rubbed cream ink all over the flower, and brown ink around the edges with the blender tool. I layered the turquoise flowers with some red buttons to finish off the smaller flowers, and for the larger flower, I took a premade brown flower and ripped off the yellow center and added the red button.
My journaling was handwritten along the bottom of the layout. The bottom scalloped edge was hand-cut from a striped paper. Then the whole diecut background paper was layered onto a light blue cardstock to complete the layout.

Last Scrapper Standing contest has begun...

For the first week of this contest over at Memorable Seasons, here is your challenge:

Your subject is "an American Child." This does not have to be your title. You may interpret it how you want and use any colors you would like for your layout, but you must add stars and stripes to your layout.

You will have until Monday, June 21 at 3 pm CST to upload this first challenge in the official entry thread. If you need a reminder about the rules, they are listed here.

Here is the layout I created for this challenge... I used a star border punch and a silver star sequin along with the striped measuring tape paper.

Cosmo Cricket Material Girl papers (Snip Snip; Measuring Up, and Elements)
Black Bazzill cardstock, CTMH Red cardstock
Martha Stewart Classic Stars Border Punch
