Card Share: Floral Lace

For my last two projects from the Memorable Seasons January Kit, I created two cards.
 This is the first one:
I used one of the floral rub-ons, then colored it in with the yellow stickles. I added some of the yellow and brown trim along with a button and a stick pin that came with the trim. Then I stamped the sentiment in dark brown ink.

I repeated the same basic design for the card envelope, but just used scraps of the two ribbon trims and another button.

This is the second card I created:

For this card, I used the two butterfly rub-ons and added some flight lines with a brown pen and a brown glitter brad to the center of the largest butterfly.

I finished off the card with a stamped sentiment using yellow ink and a brown marker, then stapled on some of the yellow lace trim. The envelope wasn't left blank on this one either: some simple rub-on brackets added interest to the otherwise plain envelope.

Layout Share: A New Set of Wheels

Image

For this layout, I used my photos to line up in grids...my favorite way to add lots of photos. Then I filled in around them with some pattern paper.

I added some glossy accents to areas of the coordinating flower stickers and also did the same for my title so it would stand out more.
The green pattern paper has a stamped swirl on it that came from the frame stamp that was in my kit--I masked off the edges with post it notes so it would just stamp a border. I also stamped some brown flower patterns on the skinny blue strip on the 2nd page of the layout so it would coordinate better and pull some blue across the page.

Here's a few more detail photos:

Layout Share: Chick-Fil-A Cow Appreciation Day

For this next layout I designed with the Memorable Seasons kit, I created a pocket on the background with the calendar page by adhering only the sides and bottom to the red pattern paper. Then I tucked a piece of printed paper behind it that explains more about the Cow Costumes.

The flowers are stamps that came in my kit and I stamped them in three colors, cut them out and layered them. I also added some distress stickles to the outside scallop edge of the calendar.

Layout Share: Truckin' To Texas

For the month of January, Jill over at Memorable Seasons let each of the Design Team pick out their papers for the design team kit. I mixed and matched papers from various manufacturers. Several of them came from the Bo Bunny Olivia collection, so Jill sent the embellishments that coordinate with those papers. I also used papers from My Mind's Eye, Prima, Scrap w/in Reach, Basic Grey and KI Memories.

The papers I picked out are on the back row and the ones Jill added are in the front:

Then she added some awesome embellishments to it to round out the grouping.

And here's the first project I created with this kit:

For this layout, I had too many photos I wanted to include (hardly shocking, I know), so I used the kraft cards to create a flap under each photo for more photos and the journaling. This way I was able to include photos that weren't so good (only had my cell phone with me).
I added some scalloped punched red paper to parts of the layout to pull the colors together and used those little mini alpha letters like they were going out of style. :)

The main flowers that have brads in them are from the sticker sheet...I either altered them with glossy accents to give them more dimension or I cut them out differently so I could omit colors I didn't want to include.
The title on this layout is highlighted with glossy accents to help it stand out more against the background.

Birthdays are Gr-eight! Challenge

This was my second challenge for the online crop earlier this month at Memorable Seasons.

Birthdays are gr-eight!
Image

The month of August is my birthday, so we are going celebrate that in a gr-eight way.

My challenge for the number 8 is this:
* Create a layout with a Birthday theme (colors of your choice)
* Use 8 photos on your layout (photos can be any combination of sizes)
* Use at least one piece of ephemera from that birthday celebration on your layout (Ephemera is any written and printed item that is created to be used in everyday life, but not necessarily saved. Think: tickets, cards, labels, letters, napkins, etc.) ****edited to add: if you don't have any ephemera saved from the birthday, use something from around your house that is birthday related instead.

Here's my layout for this challenge:

I used 8 photos on my layout and created the page with a birthday theme. (I also had to laugh later when I looked and saw that my age adds up to 8 too...not necessary to include the number 8 or a combination of numbers adding to 8 on your layout, though).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v171/mbickers/20110107_4293_edited-1.jpgI also included lots of ephemera. Several of them were from the cake itself: the yellow flowers and tags that are on the silver clips, and the card that came with my cake. I also included a pamphlet that shows all the different cakes and tells more about the Nothing Bundt Cake store.

Supplies Used:
Crate Paper Restoration Collection
-Lace and Lacey stripe papers
Making Memories Diva Shimmer Alphabet stickers: silver
Brown Cardstock
EK Success Circle Punches
Ranger Inkssentials White Pen
Sandpaper
Ephemera from birthday (cake labels, pamphlets, cards and flowers from cake)

Subway Word Art: Family

This is a layout I created for one of my design team challenges over at Memorable Seasons for their online crop from earlier in January.

"Falling For Word Art"

Subway art is all the rage right now so we are going to base our challenge on the theme of word art and the number 9.

My challenge for the number 9 is this:
* Use 9 words (or phrases) to create a background (think Subway sign art)--these words can be any topic you'd like.
* Add a 9 inch piece of paper to your layout (this can be cut into a shape or as wide as you want, but it has to be at least 9" long)
* Add these 9 elements to your layout-- 4 photos, 5 sets of embellishments. 4+5=9
* Since September (9th month) is the beginning of Fall, you need to use one fall color of your choice on your layout too.

Here's my layout for this challenge:

Here's some detail photos:
I created my background with a variety of stamps (alphabet stamps and word stamps). I stamped them with Versamark, then heat set them with clear embossing powder. You don't have to use stamps though...look through your supplies and see what stickers, rub-ons, die cuts, etc you have on hand.

I added a 9 inch piece of music paper that I punched with a scallop edge. Again, this 9" piece can be as wide or as narrow as you'd like.
I did layer some of the flower embellishments, so I'm just going to count those as single stacks each. I added a brown/green flower, a pearl brad for the center, red flowers, pleated ribbon, and a kraft ticket to total 5.

Supplies Used:
Teresa Collins Noel: Sheet Music
Pink Paislee Amber Road: Apple Cider
Brown Cardstock
Maya Road: Satin Pleat Cream
Maya Road: Home Kraft Ticket
Prima Red Flowers
The Paper Company: Brown flower
Making Memories: Green Flowers (Paper and Tulle)
K&Co: Pearl Brad
Fiskars Border Punch: Scalloped Sentiment
Ranger Distress Inkpad: Brushed Corduroy
Versamark Inkpad, CTMH Clear Embossing Powder
Technique Tuesday stamps: Ali Edwards
-blessing, loving life, we thank God
CTMH alphabet stamps: family
Recollections alphabet stamps: love
KI Memories Alphabet stamps: us
Heidi Swapp stamp: Treasure
Unknown stamp: Joy
